Setu Bandh Asana (Bridge Pose)

This asana helps to tone the calf muscles, thighs, hips and lower back. This asana helps to tone the thighs, hips, calves and lower back. Lie flat on the back with the knees raised and the feet placed firmly on the ground. The hands should be positioned straight on the sides. Inhale and lift up the body from the ground without moving the hands and feet to form a bridge like posture. Then exhale and lower the body back to the ground. Repeat this movement 10 times for best results.

Face the torso toward the bent knee, raise the hands over the head and join them into a namaskar gesture.

Inhale and arch the body backwards gently and hold for 5 seconds. Then exhale and come back to the rest position. Repeat with the left leg. Complete 5 such sets each day.

Dhanurasana (Bow Pose)

This asana is effective in improving digestion, enhancing metabolism, toning the abdominal, chest and thigh muscles and eliminating tummy fat. Lie flat on the abdomen, chest down on the ground. Take a deep breathe and lift up the legs and thighs. Simultaneously try and catch the legs with the hands to form a bow like posture. Hold the pose for 5 second. Then exhale and release the body back to the rest pose. Repeat the asana 5 times.

Now balancing this one leg position, gradually inhale and raise the hands over the head and join them in a namaskar position.

Stay in this tree like position for 5 seconds. Then exhale and gradually get back to the original rest pose. Repeat the pose with the other leg. Complete the set 5 times every day.

Uttanasana (Forward Arching)

This forward bending posture helps to stretch out and tone the hamstrings and the abdominal muscles. It triggers rapid blood flow into the brain, improves nervous functioning and relaxes the body. Stand straight, inhale raise the hands straight above the head. Then gradually arch forward pushing the buttocks back, the palms touching the ground and forehead touching the knees. Hold till comfortable and then return back to the original position while exhaling.

Bandhakonasana (Butterfly Pose)

This asana is extremely effective in toning the inner thighs, strengthening the spine, groins, knees and lower back. It relieves menstrual discomfort, gastric, constipation etc and promotes digestion, metabolism and weight loss. Sit on the ground keeping the spine erect and legs bent at the knees in a way that the soles of your feet face each other.

Then pull the legs with the hands to make the heels touch each other while keeping them closest to the pelvis. While holding the legs at the ankle, inhale and start moving the thighs in an up and down motion, similar to the flapping wings of a butterfly. Repeat as many counts as possible.

An easy yet effective asana that strengthens and tones the shoulders, back, arms, buttocks, thighs and most effectively, the abdomen. Lie flat on the ground, abdomen facing the floor and the palms, on the floor, placed near the face. Now take a deep breathe and while pushing the floor with the palms and feet, straighten the arms and lift the entire body up from the ground to form an inclined plank position.

Hold the position for as long as possible and then exhale and get back to the rest pose.
